At least 26 Maoists were killed on Wednesday during an encounter with security forces in the Abujhmad region of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. The operation was carried out by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Kondagaon districts. Chhattisgarh home minister Vijay Sharma confirmed the number of casualties and said the search operation is ongoing.
“The operation has been going on for the last 72 hours. More than 26 Maoists were killed in the encounter on Wednesday,” said Sharma. He also stated that a senior Maoist leader is likely among those killed and further details will be shared after confirmation.
Security personnel have continued combing operations in the area to recover bodies, weapons, and clear any improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The operation was part of an ongoing effort to counter Maoist presence in the Bastar region and involved coordinated movement across multiple districts.
